Troubleshooting ⚠️

Like with all software and hardware errors can happen. Here is a list of errors that have occurred and how to fix them


🛠️ Eye Calibration Failed (VR Headset)

If the headset fails to calibrate the participant’s eyes:

  1. Close and restart the VIBES Lab program.

  2. If the participant wears glasses, ask them to clean their lenses, as smudges or reflections may interfere with eye tracking. Repeat step 1

  3. Clean the VR headset lenses to ensure no smudges are interfering with tracking. Repeat step 1

  4. If the issue persists, restart the computer.

🧑‍💻 VR Headset Not Displaying Anything / Not Detected

If the VR headset screen remains blank:

  1. Open SteamVR

    • Press the Windows key, type SteamVR, and press Enter to launch the application.

  2. Check the Headset Status

    • In SteamVR, hover over the headset icon.

      • If it says “Idle”, the headset is on but isn’t detecting a user—try putting it on to wake it up.

      • If it says “Not Detected”, continue to step 3.

  3. Power On the Link Box

    • Locate the VIVE Pro Link Box to the right of the computer.

    • Press the blue power button on the Link Box.

    • Wait a few seconds—SteamVR should now detect the headset.
